High-strength steel fiber for high-speed pavement

Detailed Introduction

The role of steel fibers in road construction

With the continuous increase in traffic volume and people's ever-rising demands for road performance, traditional road materials have become inadequate to meet the needs of modern transportation. To enhance the service life and performance of roads, many new materials and technologies have been introduced into road construction. Steel fibers, as a high-performance reinforcement material, have been widely used in road construction.

1. Basic characteristics of steel fibers

Steel fiber is a short fiber made of steel, typically ranging from 25 to 50 millimeters in length and 0.2 to 0.9 millimeters in diameter. Due to its advantages such as high strength, high elastic modulus, corrosion resistance, and good durability, it is widely used in reinforced concrete, asphalt concrete, and other materials.

II. The role of steel fibers in road construction

1. Improve the crack resistance of roads

Steel fibers can effectively enhance the crack resistance of concrete. Due to the addition of steel fibers, the toughness of concrete is significantly improved, thereby reducing the occurrence of cracks. In addition, steel fibers also exhibit excellent bending fatigue performance, effectively resisting the effects of repeated loads, further enhancing the crack resistance of concrete.

2. Enhance the load-bearing capacity of roads

Steel fibers possess high strength and elastic modulus, effectively enhancing the load-bearing capacity of concrete. By incorporating steel fibers into concrete, the thickness of pavement can be reduced, leading to lower engineering costs. Additionally, steel fibers strengthen the shear strength and flexural load-bearing capacity of concrete, thereby improving the safety performance of roads.

3. Improve the wear resistance of roads

Steel fibers exhibit excellent wear resistance and can effectively resist the wear caused by vehicle wheels on road surfaces. Incorporating steel fibers into asphalt concrete can significantly enhance the wear resistance of road surfaces and prolong the service life of roads.

4. Improve the frost resistance and melting performance of roads

Steel fibers can enhance the frost resistance of concrete. In cold regions, the freeze-thaw cycles caused by temperature fluctuations can severely damage road surfaces. By incorporating steel fibers, the frost resistance of concrete can be improved, thereby extending the lifespan of roads.

III. Construction technology of steel fiber in road construction

1. Ingredient preparation

When preparing steel fiber reinforced concrete, it is necessary to select high-quality raw materials such as cement, sand and gravel aggregates, and steel fibers, and carry out quality inspection and control. At the same time, a reasonable mix ratio should be determined according to design requirements and construction conditions.

2. Mixing process

To ensure uniform distribution of steel fibers in concrete, a forced mixer should be used for mixing. During the mixing process, the raw materials should be dry mixed for 1-2 minutes, followed by wet mixing with water and admixtures for 2-3 minutes until they are fully mixed. Meanwhile, regular inspections should be conducted on the blades and internal wear of the mixer to ensure mixing quality.

3. Transportation and pouring

During transportation and pouring, it is necessary to ensure that the concrete does not undergo segregation and bleeding. At the same time, the pouring speed and vibration method should be controlled to avoid defects such as voids and honeycombs. After pouring, timely curing and finishing should be carried out.

4. Maintenance and inspection

During the curing period, the concrete surface should be kept moist and regularly watered for curing.

Meanwhile, quality inspection and acceptance should be conducted in accordance with relevant standards and specifications to ensure that the project quality meets the requirements.
